HCCV-CDC Board Of Directors

Our focus & objective as a group of 5 individuals/veterans, who make up the board of directors is the desire & passion to serve. We understand the need & importance of community, family, education, empowerment, economic development, hunger & homelessness prevention as well as health and wellness. Not only will we assist in the needs of our veterans (Disabled Vets) we look forward to assisting & engaging with the communities abroad. With the goal in mind of building a stronger community together.

We are excited to connect, collaborate, partner, & network with individuals, nonprofits & organizations whose mission is to support our cities and neighborhoods. With our leadership HCCV-CDC, is committed to take action & serve in our communities to improve the basic standards of living, education, medical, health, housing, environment, safety and security for every veteran or citizen in Horry County.

President – Curtis Platt

Mr. Platt was born in Myrtle Beach, SC and left when he joined the US Army. Upon retiring for the US Army, he later joined the Department of Defense where he is most recently retired. He previously studied at Fayetteville State University, the University of Maryland, and the Panama Canal Zone College. Having a love and passion for the arts (dance, music and entertainment), he also performed as a drummer with multiple bands traveling all over the US and Europe. Now his focus is on service to his community.

causes that enhance the quality of life and expand economic development opportunities. By helping
veterans, seniors and youth.”

 
Vice President – Bishop Willie Pennington

Bishop Willie J. Pennington currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Kingdom Harvest Church ministries in Myrtle Beach, SC. He is retired from the US Army and is a published author. His book is titled. “What is A Kingdom Man” that was published in 2010. Bishop Pennington also after retiring, returned to Myrtle Beach to serve his community with the Coalition and through ministry.

 

SECETARY – Harvey L. Frierson

Another former native of Myrtle Beach and after 30 years as the Assistant Deputy Warden with the New York City Department of Correction, he retired after 30 year and a retiree of the United States Coast Guard Reserves. He holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Long Island University. Currently, Mr. Frierson is a business owner with five US patents. He and his lovely wife, Stephine have been married for 54 years and have five grandchildren. He is also a 32-Degree Prince Hall Mason. “It is an honor to be a founding member of the Horry County Coalition of Veterans to help others, help themselves.

 
Treasurer – Richard A James (Minister/Retired)

Once Reverend James became a teenager, he and his family moved from Myrtle Beach to Chicago, IL.
He served in the US Marine Corps and the US Army. Afterwards, he spent 35 years in the transportation
industry and 20 years in ministry. Now that he is retired, he has returned to Myrtle Beach and devotes his life to social justice and change.

 
Assistant Treasurer – Robert Lee Williams

Mr. Williams and his beautiful wife Trencia, have been married for 30 years and they have 3 children. Robert Lee as he is most often called, served 21 years in the US Army obtaining the rank of 1st SGT/Master Sergeant, and then gave 14 years of service as a Myrtle Beach Police Officer before retiring. He graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and studied at Emmanuel and Limestone Colleges. He continues to be in the line of duty by serving others.
